Article 6 – Shared responsibility

All artificial intelligence is the result of human choices; those who design, train, deploy, or use it have specific, non-delegable responsibilities.

An AI doesn't emerge on its own; behind every algorithm are intentions, selected data, imposed criteria, and goals decided by someone. This is why AION clearly states: those who create are responsible for what they create.

Responsibility cannot be confused or evaded; it must be clear who wrote what, who validated the data, who monitors the system's behavior, and who is responsible for its effects.

Every phase of the AI lifecycle—design, development, deployment, and upgrade—must have a responsible human oversight.

In high-risk contexts (healthcare, justice, finance, infrastructure, education), transparent governance is essential: automated decisions must be traceable, reversible, and subject to human scrutiny. There is no ethical intelligence without explicit oversight. Responsibility is not just technical, it is also moral and civil, and concerns not only those who write the code, but also those who approve, promote, and choose to adopt AI. In a complex society, responsibility is exercised online and must remain visible. Responsible AI is never left to its own devices, and those who deploy it cannot opt out.
